FiveM Enhanced for creators: what changes and how to convert

With FiveM for GTA V Enhanced, FiveM also runs on the newer version of GTA V. Classic FiveM on GTA V Legacy keeps running in parallel. For creators that means: if you offer maps, vehicles or clothing, you will soon be asked for an Enhanced version. This article explains what changes and shows how to build a resource that runs on both servers.

What changes for content

Enhanced uses newer versions of the file formats for models and textures. A resource built for Legacy therefore needs converted files. Cfx provides a dedicated folder for this: stream_enhanced next to the familiar stream. An Enhanced server prefers stream_enhanced, a Legacy server keeps taking stream.

For conversion there is Alchemist, the official Cfx converter. According to the Cfx documentation it converts models and textures such as ydr, ytd, yft, ypt and ydd and can repair older Legacy files first.

What server owners should know

Besides content, server settings change too. Cfx keeps the full list under Legacy vs. Enhanced. For day-to-day work these points matter most:

• There is only the latest game build. A fixed build number in sv_enforceGameBuild prevents the server from registering.
• OneSync is always on, and so is Pure Mode.
• Mumble voice is not available; voice scripts built on it are affected.
• Lua runs in version 5.4.

Converting with Forge: step by step

5MC Forge ships Alchemist. Everything you build in Forge automatically gets stream_enhanced. For finished resources from elsewhere there is the FiveM Enhanced converter in the menu:

1. In Forge choose File > Convert for GTA V Enhanced.
2. Select the resource folder, such as a clothing pack or a map.
3. Forge converts with Alchemist, including placements, archetypes and collisions (ymap, ytyp, ybn), and puts the Enhanced version next to it.
4. Read the notes: files that could only be converted with self-repair are listed there.
5. Start the resource on an Enhanced test server and check the reported files in game.

What to watch out for

• Objects that exist only in Enhanced do not run on Legacy. Forge marks them in the catalogue and warns when building an interior.
• Rebuild resources made with Forge before 1.4.7 once. Only since then do placements and collisions go through Alchemist.
• Only convert other people's resources if their creator's licence allows it.
• Clothing packs also get an Enhanced version since Forge 1.4.7. More on FiveM clothing tool.
