How to convert a resource for Enhanced
Open the menu
In Forge choose File > Convert for GTA V Enhanced.
Choose a folder
Select a resource folder, such as a clothing pack or a purchased map.
Let it convert
Forge runs Alchemist and puts the Enhanced version next to it. Files that only worked with self-repair are listed in the notes.
Check in game
Put the resource on your Enhanced test server and look at the reported files once in game.
Legacy and Enhanced: what changes for creators
FiveM for GTA V Enhanced runs next to the familiar FiveM on GTA V Legacy. Enhanced uses newer file formats for models and textures. A resource can therefore bring two folders: stream for Legacy and stream_enhanced for Enhanced, which an Enhanced server prefers. Anyone offering content for both worlds needs every file twice, in the right version. More in FiveM Enhanced for creators.
Alchemist inside Forge
Alchemist is the Cfx converter for the path from Legacy to Enhanced. Cfx also offers it on its own. Forge ships it and runs it on every build, for interiors, vehicles with liveries, clothing packs, weapons and peds. It converts models and textures as well as placements, archetypes and collisions (ymap, ytyp, ybn).
- If a file can only be converted with Alchemist's self-repair, Forge names it in the notes after the build.
- If GTA V Enhanced is installed, Forge adds its extra objects to the catalogue, marked “Enhanced”.
- If such an object is used in an interior, the build tells you the MLO only runs on Enhanced servers.
- You can switch off the Enhanced version under File > GTA V Enhanced.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between stream and stream_enhanced?
stream holds the files for GTA V Legacy, stream_enhanced the converted ones for Enhanced. An Enhanced server takes stream_enhanced, a Legacy server keeps using stream. The resource therefore runs on both.
Can I convert purchased maps and packs?
Yes, via File > Convert for GTA V Enhanced. Forge puts the Enhanced version next to the folder. Whether you may modify someone else's resource is governed by its creator's licence.
Does everything run flawlessly after converting?
Usually yes. Files that Alchemist could only convert with self-repair are named in Forge's notes. Check those once in game.
Do I need GTA V Enhanced on my computer?
No. Forge needs GTA V Legacy as its base and still builds for both. GTA V Enhanced is optional and only adds its extra objects to the catalogue.
