How to build a tattoo pack with Forge
Pick a design
Upload your own image; a plain background turns transparent. Or Forge AI draws the design, with your brand if you like.
Place on the ped
A click on the body places the tattoo right there. Drag to move, mouse wheel to resize, hold Shift to rotate. Forge works out the body zone itself.
Fill the pack
Put several tattoos into one pack, each for men, women or both. The zone view next to it helps with fine tuning.
Build and test
Forge builds the resource with overlay file, textures and the names for tattoo shops. On your test server you put them on with /tattoo.
How tattoos work in GTA V
In GTA V tattoos are not clothing items but so-called ped decorations: images laid onto the skin through their own mapping. Each body zone (torso, head, arms, legs) has its own area there, and an overlay file says where the image sits, how big it is and how it is rotated. Server scripts and tattoo shops then apply the tattoos by name.
Setting those values by hand means guessing, starting the game, adjusting. In the tattoo editor you click on the body instead and see the tattoo in the right spot right away, just as the game shows it.

Frequently asked questions
Do the tattoos work with my tattoo shop script?
Forge builds a normal add-on tattoo resource with an overlay file and a list of names. Most tattoo shops read exactly that collection and those names. Installation notes come with the resource.
Can I make one tattoo for men and women at once?
Yes. For each tattoo you choose men, women or both. In the preview you switch between the two peds.
Do I need Forge AI for this?
No. The tattoo editor is part of every plan and you can upload your own images. Forge AI for designing comes with Forge Studio, with 100 test credits in the trial.
